Exporting & saving

Export to Markdown or Word, copy to clipboard, and auto-save

Exporting & saving

Your notes are always kept inside Foxl, but you'll often want a file on disk or text on your clipboard.

Export a single note

Right-click any note in the sidebar (or use the save dialog with Cmd+S on the open note):

  • Export as .md - a Markdown file, great for Obsidian, Notion, GitHub, or any plain-text workflow.
  • Export as .docx - a Word document with headings and lists preserved.
  • Copy as Markdown - puts the note text on your clipboard to paste anywhere.

Markdown keeps your headings, lists, checkboxes, and formatting. Word export preserves the structure as native Word styles.

Auto-save

Turn on Auto Save in Settings to have Foxl write a file automatically every time a summary is generated - no manual export needed.

  • Format - choose Word (.docx) or Markdown (.md) under Settings -> Auto-save Format.
  • Location - pick a folder under Settings -> Auto-save Location. New notes land there as files named after the note title.

This is handy if you keep your meeting notes in a synced folder (Dropbox, iCloud, a notes vault) - every meeting ends up as a file there without any extra steps.

Cmd+S

With a note open, Cmd+S (Ctrl+S) opens a quick save dialog to export the current note as Markdown or Word on the spot.
