Web App

Use Foxl in your browser at app.foxl.ai

app.foxl.ai

No installation needed - open app.foxl.ai in any browser and sign in with the same account as your desktop.

When signed in, app.foxl.ai gives you all three Foxl products in one place:

  • Foxl Agent - AI agent with conversation history and model selection. The agent runs on your desktop: when the desktop app is running and connected via relay you get full tool access (browser automation, code execution, file management, memory). Without a reachable desktop you can still read your conversations, but sending a message is refused with a note to open Foxl on your computer - foxl.ai serves no model inference.
  • Foxl Code - autonomous coding agents backed by the same infrastructure as code.foxl.ai. Spin up tasks, review diffs, and manage GitHub repos directly from the browser. Foxl Code is in private beta, open to invited accounts; an account without access sees a private beta notice.
  • Foxl Notes - meeting transcription and AI summaries from any browser tab; the transcription credentials and the summary model come from your connected desktop (see below). Notes sync with Foxl on your computer in both directions, so a meeting recorded in the browser also appears on the computer and the other way round (how).

Features

  • Your choice of model - whatever the provider you connect gives you. See Models and AI Providers
  • Extended thinking - watch the AI reason through complex problems
  • Conversation history - saved on your desktop, with an encrypted copy kept in your browser so your conversations stay readable while the desktop is away
  • Model selection - switch between models per conversation
  • Nineteen colour themes, light and dark - the same Appearance settings as the desktop app

Signed out, app.foxl.ai opens on a new chat: type what you want and press Send, and Foxl asks you to sign in; once you have, your message is waiting in the chat, ready to send. (A magic link opens a new tab, which starts empty; the tab you typed in keeps your message.) That page is also at app.foxl.ai/ko, /ja and the other languages Foxl speaks. Click Sign in to create a free account. You can sign in with:

  • Google - one-click sign in
  • Apple - privacy-friendly sign in
  • GitHub - sign in with your GitHub account
  • Email - magic link, or a password if you set one

The language picker under the sign-in options sets Foxl's language before you sign in, and your pick stays after.

A suspended account is told so, with Sign out and Delete account beside it: on app.foxl.ai, code.foxl.ai and in the phone apps as one screen in place of the app, and in the desktop app as a notice above your account in the sidebar, while everything that runs on your computer keeps working.

The first sign-in of a new account (created in the last day, with no desktop paired yet) opens a short setup, Pick your look and Tell Foxl about you, and then a feature tour. The Notes, Bring your setup and Connect a model screens are only in the desktop app, because they set up the computer. In a phone's browser the look screen asks for Light, Dark or System only; the colour themes stay in Settings > Appearance. Any other account goes straight to Chat, also in a new browser; Settings > Appearance > Show setup again opens the setup at any time.

In a browser, a bar at the top asks about analytics cookies: Google Analytics counts page views only if you choose Accept. Your choice applies to every foxl.ai site (foxl.ai, docs.foxl.ai and app.foxl.ai), so the others do not ask again.

Notifications in the browser

Turn them on under Settings > Notifications > This device: Browser notifications has a Turn on button, and your browser asks for permission only when you press it.

  • An agent run or a schedule that finishes on your desktop shows a notification while you are not looking at the Foxl tab (it is in the background, or another window is in front). When the Foxl desktop app runs on the same computer, you usually get only the desktop app's notification: Foxl recognizes the same computer by its IPv6 address. With the desktop app open on a Mac, the browser also skips its notification, on any network and in any browser signed in to your account, while you are at that Mac and the Mac shows its own; when you have been away from the Mac for a minute or more, it is locked or asleep, or that kind of notification is turned off in the desktop app's Settings > Notifications, the browser notifies you. Over IPv4 or a VPN, a Windows or Linux desktop's notification can come with the browser's.
  • A Foxl Code task that finishes, fails or needs your answer shows one while Foxl Code is open in a tab that is showing and you are working in another window. A minimized window or a tab behind another tab catches up when you return to it.
  • Not available in mobile browsers.

What it costs

Foxl is free and there is no plan to buy. For Foxl Agent and Notes, what you supply is the model access - your own provider key, a local model, or a Claude / ChatGPT subscription you already pay for. Foxl Code in the web app runs on Remote by default, like code.foxl.ai, on your account credits.

Because Foxl does not serve model inference for Foxl Agent, its model list in the web app is whatever your own provider gives you; asking Foxl for a hosted model is refused with a message naming the three options. Full detail in Cost & model access.

Agent Tools in the Web App

With no desktop connected the web app is a read-only view of your agent: your conversations are there, but a new message is refused until a desktop is reachable, because foxl.ai serves no model inference. Screens that describe your computer behave honestly rather than pretending to have data - Agents and Usage show a connect-your-desktop panel, Files and Schedules open on sample content, and the Integrations, Tools and Skills panes show a preview.

For full agent capabilities (browser automation, code execution, file management, git, memory, skills):

  • Download the desktop app, then turn on Remote access under Settings > Connect > Mobile/Web. Until a desktop is paired, the web app's Settings > Desktop has a download link for your system: the installer on Windows, the disk image on a Mac, and foxl.ai on Linux
  • The web app finds it automatically - see Desktop Relay
  • With auto-approve off on the desktop, a tool approval prompt can be answered right in the web app (how)

Foxl Code runs in the cloud and needs no desktop (it is in private beta). Foxl Notes records through your browser's microphone, but transcription and the AI summary both run through your desktop: transcription signs in to Amazon Transcribe with the AWS credentials on your computer, and the summary uses the model provider you connected under Settings > Model & provider. In a browser, a pasted transcription key and the on-device engine do not work: Deepgram, AssemblyAI, OpenAI and ElevenLabs keys work in the desktop app and in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, and Gemini, OpenRouter and the on-device engine only in the desktop app. With the desktop unreachable a recording cannot be transcribed unless your account has been enabled for the Foxl Relay engine. A summary, title or report asked for while the desktop is unreachable waits and is written through your desktop once it is back; on the accounts remote chat is offered to, it can be written in the cloud on your Foxl credits instead (how).
